Life Drawing

Recently, I have found myself drawn to paring back the ideas I had, drawing with fewer lines. These simple life drawing pieces had been in my mind for a while, and I have been making them in the moments between projects.

These drawings are from self portraits, but are inspired by ideas of what women are seen as. Blacksmithing is still seen as a traditionally male job, with the steel itself being seen as rigid and structural. I liked the idea of creating these flowing, simple line drawings of elements of women in this rather masculine material.

They are snapshots, elements of someone, or many people, that build to form a body of work that explores what it is to be a woman.
