The wonderful Outpost Arts in Langholm have commissioned a series of artists to create murals to be installed around the town centre, exploring and celebrating what makes the town special.
Although Langholm already has a monument to Hugh MacDiarmid, I thought it would be good to link his writing to the nature that can be seen around the town. The White Rose of Scotland is a poem in which he describes his love for the sharp and sweet rose of the area, and my mural is of the rose entwining the last two lines of the poem.
The project has had a very positive response so far, with residents even writing in about their enjoyment of the pieces. This letter made me incredibly happy, knowing that my art has given someone a dose of happiness every time she sees it!Â
